Ground Tamper

A ground tamper, also known simply as a tamper, is a hand tool used to compact soil, gravel, or asphalt, creating a stable base for pathways, patios, or other landscaping features. It consists of a heavy, flat, metal plate attached to a long handle. The user lifts the tamper and lets it drop repeatedly on the surface to compress the material below. Ground tampers are essential for ensuring a firm, level surface that will not settle or shift over time. This tool is commonly used in the preparation of paver bases, leveling gravel, and compacting soil in garden beds.
